Falling in Love With Life

We are only here for a short time. Make sure you fall in love with life whilst you're visiting.

Experience, travel, and travel often.

There is so much more to the world than the town you live in. Having said that, as I've grown older, I have found a love for Basingstoke. It might be a small town, but sometimes that's the best part about it. I know I will never fall out of touch with old friends from school, because I see them every weekend in the local bars, or pass by them in town. I really do love that about living here, but I also love travelling to other beautiful places and seeing how people there live too.

Paris was the first on my list. The feature photo of this blog was taken by myself, and while I don't know the two people in this photo, I've found a love for them. People in Paris leave their houses to read books in the sunshine and will happily sit comfortably with strangers. You'd never get that in Basingstoke. Travel and travel often, soak in another countries culture and fall in love with the beauty of where someone else lives.

Say yes to surprises

Say yes to life. Say yes to that date. Say yes to family obligations. Often, the things we're not so sure on end up surprising us. But that doesn't mean you can't say no when you feel like it, nobody cares if you don't go to the party!

Be forgiving

I am tired of holding grudges against people I've had disagreements with in the past. If they wanna stay cold then all power to them, but you're better than that. Move on, everything happens for a reason! Sometimes you have to clear out your friendships to make room for better people.

Love yourself and let loved ones love you too

Accept compliments. It doesn't make you vain, friends would much rather you say thank you politely rather than respond negatively. Learn that you are you for good reason. Your good and bad qualities are both needed to make you who you are.

Do what makes you happy

Hate your job? Quit. Fallen out of love? End your relationship. You don't have to do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. Whether you upset someone or not can sometimes be out of your hands. It's not selfish to know that life is too short.

Appreciate the little things and be thankful for them

Say thank you more. Be grateful for family meals. Be thankful that your friend asked how you were today. Negative thoughts can often overshadow the little things that make us smile. Don't let it.

Most importantly, just be happy. You are here for a reason. People love you for who you are.

  1. These are some great tips. I definitely need to travel more. I have my first ever holiday booked this year and I'm pretty excited!

  2. In love with this post. Such wise words X

  3. I love these thoughts and how you express them. I read so many trite suggestions to be happier, but these are really genuine, helpful and uplifting.
I am also often charmed by customs which aren't common where I live. Thanks for sharing!
