BLOGMAS #7 | Why Family is so Important at Christmas

How much quality time do you spend with your loved ones? Family is so important at Christmas time for me.

How much quality time do you spend with your loved ones? Family is so important at Christmas time for me.

After years of working in retail I've not had the chance to spend any quality time with my family since I was 15. Since then it has been madness, working all hours over the festive period and only truly getting a mere few hours on Christmas day to spend with loved ones. Even then, it would be an early night before the 5am start on Boxing Day.

This year, after starting a new job, I finally get the chance to spend a whole 11 days with them! I feel so blessed and excited to take the time to really enjoy the festivities.

Family is important all year round but this year it's all about Christmas

Gifting gifts is lovely, but its those moments you spend with the people you adore that makes Christmas great for me. It's those moments you sit and laugh around the dinner table, or watching a seasonal movie together.

There are 6 people who live in my house and although its completley crazy and hectic 24/7, arguing over how long someone spends in the shower or when one of my siblings eat my leftovers without asking, I couldn't ask for any better.

Those little extras...

This Christmas, take a moment to remind yourself how lucky you are if you're spending it with family. There are people out there who have no one and will be dreaming of a holiday spent with relatives. Don't take it for granted.

The true meaning of Christmas is love. Every day with my family is a day well spent. I am blessed and feel lucky to have them!

How will you be spending Christmas this year? Do you have any traditions? My family always open our stockings first thing on our parents bed! This year I may even be a little hungover...

I can't wait!

xoxo
