BLOGMAS #6 | Things I Love About Winter

Winter is here. I have a cold and probably a hint of SAD Disorder, but there are still many positives to the festive season.

Winter is here. I have a cold and probably a hint of SAD Disorder, but there are still many positives to the festive season.

It's mid-December, and I've already de-iced my car for the millionth time, slipped over on public pathways twice and experienced the busy shopping centre once and only once!

Despite many pitfalls, it is the season to be jolly and if I had to choose between the summer and the colder months of winter I'd choose winter. Here's why:

The smell

At some point, usually around November time you realise you can actually smell the cold air. I can't describe it other than It’s a clean, fresh, crisp scent that clears your airways. I can't get enough!

The fashion

Winter fashion is just amazing. You get to bundle up warm and comfortable, and still look good! I'm not a crop top kind of girl (Probably because I don't have a flat tummy), so jumpers are the one for me. I love winter boots.

The festivities

Bonfire night, Christmas, New Years Eve and my birthday all in one season! I love the holidays and spending lots of time with family and friends. It's a great time of year for celebrations.

Makeup and hair

No summer means no sweat. No need to drench your face in setting spray, that matte foundation is going to last all day! No hairspray required either, unless it rains...

Darker evenings

This one isn't so popular with everyone. I love that I leave work and it's already dark outside, it means I don't have to feel as guilty when I get into my PJ's at 5pm. Bliss!

Comfort food is here. Pasta, Roast dinners with all the trimmings and lots of chocolate. I definitely gain a lot more weight in the winter than I do in other seasons but boy is it worth it.

No more wasps!

There is nothing worse than wasps buzzing in your ear. I have never been stung (so far), and I'm too scared to imagine the pain. At least bee's have purpose!

Snow days (when it actually snows)

I love snow when you'd get the day of school and spend it with your mates and drink copious amounts of hot chocolate in Sainsbury's cafe. I miss those times.

Everything is covered in glitter. Especially my eyelids. Glitter Christmas cards, glitter outfits, the list, is endless. I am a magpie.

The gift of love and gifts in general

I love gifts. Both giving and receiving them. The winter season is the time I spend with family and friends, and I couldn't be more grateful.
