My Little List of To Do's...

I wouldn't quite call it a bucket list, some of the things on here I could complete in a heartbeat.

I have a lot of aspirations, I am a creative, it's what we do! So I decided that I would make a note of those little goals I have in the belief that I am more likely to succeed at them. I am 21 in four months, and I want to achieve at least a few of the things on my neverending ambitions list...

1.Keep a diary/journal.

My inner Bridget Jones has arrived, but I won't be taking note how many vodkas I've had each week. I guess a blog is perfect for documenting all those important milestones in your life, but I'm not going to tell you the in's and out's of my dreadfully drunk Saturday night! I personally love looking back at old writing of mine, (school yearbooks, notepads, workbooks.) and the idea of laughing at myself for years to come puts a smile on my face. It's great to have memories locked away, and having them in writing is a bonus.

2. Write and publish a book.

This has always been one of my biggest goals, and while I have written many stories in my life, this is one that's going to be published for the world to see. Perhaps I'll write a romantic fiction novel or even an advice book on how to live life the Shannon way. Who knows? All I can say is one day, I hope to have a signing in Waterstones. ( Perhaps WHSmith is less ambitious...)

3. Become fluent in another language.

After experiencing the wonders of Paris this year, I noticed how well accustomed they are to the English Language. And while I spent most of the trip reciting ' Parle Vous Anglais?' I am surprisingly quite quick at adjusting to new things. I did fairly well in French at school so perhaps I will learn the wonders of the beautiful language.

4. Travel.

After receiving my first passport in 10 years, I instantly knew I would feel pure wanderlust. The cultures of other countries are yet to be discovered by Shannon Valentine, but one day I will have seen it all!

5. 10 Random Acts of Kindness

One on the list that could easily be fulfilled. Whether it be me picking up the bill of someone's drive thru order behind me, or just telling a stranger they look great today, I want to make people feel happy. And the best part is you are doing it out of love, not for validation.

6. Learn to swim.

Yes, I'm 20, and I cant swim. Well, tell a lie, I can swim in a pool where my feet can touch the floor. Falling out of a crashing plane, however, then I'm fucked. Cant tread water for the life of me.

7. Hug an Elephant.

As you all may know the elephant is my most favorite animal. I don't just want to meet one; I want to hug one and never let go...

8. Volunteer.

I suppose this is considered as an act of kindness, but I want to volunteer to help the less fortunate. A soup kitchen, children's home or just giving the elderly a little company from time to time.

9. Try a relationship I know won't be forever from the start.

That was a mouthful. I might be single because of my strict standards but I know the one most important factor: I want forever or nothing. If I can't see myself marrying them in the far future then whats the point? Does that sound crazy? Probably! I don't even want to get married for years, but I don't want to waste my time on a guy I cant see a future with either. But experience is everything, and being with someone that makes you happy for a little while can make a great structure for your 'one true love' relationship in years to come.

10. Learn to change a tire.

While I'm on the subject of love, I also want to be a badass independent woman who don't need no man. Learning how to change a tire and all those other little things will help me feel more comfortable knowing I'm not in a relationship. I can do everything you can do, but better!

11. Read 100 Books.

I'm a book nerd. I love to read but don't read often enough. 100 Books. Literature or just trashy teen novels, I want to read 100 of them.

12. Take care of myself.

Recovery sucks. I hate myself but want to love myself all at once. In my 21st year of living, I want to find my happy weight, create an exercise and healthy eating routine to stick to, and just love myself, in general, please...

I still have an endless list of goals, but this will suit me fine for now. One step at a time...

What's on your to-do list?

xoxo

  1. It's so funny just how similar I feel we are! This is a great to do list and I absolutely love it! I feel as though I can relate to a lot of the things you'd like to do also. From learning another language, traveling, the acts of kindness / volunteer all the way to swimming and changing a tire! I pretty much feel the same about it all and would love to achieve those. This was a great post, Shannon xo
